Job Description

Caliber is seeking a full-time Investments Paralegal/Administrator to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. This is not a remote position.

The position reports to the Director of Investments and will work in the Investments Department, focusing on assisting with the creation of new investment products. It will require working closely with the Investment team, analysts, general management, internal/external legal coordination, Acquisitions team, and Asset Services team, and include related responsibilities to support the overall goals of Caliber. This position requires someone that is highly detailed, organized and able to shift priorities quickly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in fund formation, equity, and debt formation in conjunction with the investments team.
  • Fact check and redline private placement memorandums, formation documents, and subscription documents for investment products.
  • Work closely with investment team to keep track of all aspects of funds, notes, and private syndications from initial identification through final delivery.
  • Work with the Development team and the analysts to ensure all required documents are accurate, on track for completion, and saved appropriately.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations for clients, investors, committees, and other internal reports.
  • Assist Director of Investments in preparing investment product(s) training.
  • Responsible for maintaining, managing, and reporting syndication pipeline, ensuring that offering statuses are reported correctly.
  • Responsible for sharing and uploading documents and communications on Investment file site for team use and record keeping.
  • Manage investment product creation checklists.
  • Set up new entities, EINs, and bank accounts for new offerings.
  • Ensure folders have correct files and naming conventions.
  • Support the Investment Committee through calendar/agenda management, including reviewing purchase contracts for critical dates, taking meeting notes for recirculation of critical information, document sharing/storing, and package creation.
  • Create offering document abstracts for all new and existing offerings including abstracts for sales, accounting, finance and lending.
  • Maintain capital rising timeline charts to ensure capital raising capacity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (required unless otherwise stated):

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in real estate investment or legal
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • Experience with contract review is a plus
  • Experience with Dealpath and DocuSign is a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to understand and communicate investment data.
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions.

Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The employee frequently communicates with internal team members, investors and vendors. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer. Occasionally moves items up to 50 lbs. for various projects.
