Social Media Internship

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark and accredited museum in Miami, Florida

(www.vizcaya.org). Vizcaya Museum and Gardens seeks a creative and dynamic, part-time social media intern to

assist with content creation and the management of the museum’s social media platforms. The intern will assist

in digital marketing efforts. The position is in the Marketing department, and reports to the Director of Marketing

and Communications.

Vizcaya is owned by Miami-Dade County and is operated by the non-profit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Trust,

Inc. Our mission is to preserve the estate’s cultural and environmental resources to engage people in connecting

with the past, understanding the present and shaping the future. Our vision is to position Vizcaya as an

sustainability of the world around us.

Essential Functions

• Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
• Lead community management responsibilities across social accounts
• Create content, including but not limited to photography, short-form videos, and copy
• Attend community programs and special events, as schedule allows, to conduct live social media coverage on

Instagram Stories

• Support marketing team at live and online events, including livestreams and media activities
• Assist with influencer campaign strategy

Learning Opportunities
• Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience in the areas listed above, under the Director of Marketing

• Intern will have the opportunity to create content and other portfolio pieces in connection to a globally

recognized National Historic Landmark

• Intern will have the opportunity to work in front of the camera and develop their public speaking skills, if

desired.

Position requirements

• Actively enrolled as a junior or senior in a university-level program
• Experience or education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Video Production or related field
• Proficient in written communication, particularly in English

• Video editing skills a plus

• Spanish language proficiency a plus

Compensation
The salary for this internship is $20/hour.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Due to the content creation responsibilities, most of the work is done on-site at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, located at
3251 S. Miami Ave. Miami FL 33129. Following a four-week training period, the position can be considered for partial
hybrid work. Vizcaya is a non-smoking environment.

The work schedule will be defined in collaboration with the final candidate, but the 20-hour week will generally
fall within the following schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some weekends and
evenings may apply as the candidate’s schedule allows.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Schedule
This is a temporary part-time position working 20 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks, to be scheduled

between approximately June 5, 2023, through August 25, 2023.
