JOB SUMMARY:
The Fundraising Specialist is a vital member of the Management Team of PACS who supports PACS’s mission
to follow Christ’s example to nourish the mind, body, and spirit while fostering dignity among those we serve. In
particular, the Fundraising Specialist will apply these principles by supporting the strategic and operational
objectives of the organization. To excel in this role, a successful applicant should have excellent oral
communication skills, intuitive listening, the ability to implement fundraising strategies, coordinate with crucial
players, attention to detail, and have excellent follow-through. These characteristics are critical to obtaining
successful results in these significant areas of responsibility. This position works independently and sometimes
with a small team where goals are accomplished by working with and through volunteers, staff, and community
partners. The individual filling this role should be results-oriented, self-motivated to achieve program goals,
capable of meeting deadlines, and an excellent planner.
HOURLY RATE & STATUS: $27 - $30/ hour; Full-time 40-hour-week (non-exempt)

DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES:
FUNDRAISING
  • Supports executive leadership to develop annual fundraising objectives, monetary targets, and budget
forecasts
  • Produces annual fundraising plan with program development and financial goals – fundraising
strategies include, but is not limited to: direct mail, quarterly newsletter, dinner event, major gifts, grant
writing and employee giving partnerships
  • Manages donor database, Bloomerang, and works to optimize and maximize donor database
capabilities
  • Produces regular and ad-hoc reports and analyses of current and potential financial donors including
corporations, foundations, and individuals
  • Responsible for donor gift and grant processing, including circulation of daily receipt reports to key
administrative leadership
  • Responsible for the consistent and timely recognition of all donor gifts and grants
  • Researches potential donor and grant funding sources, produces opportunity briefings, supports
prioritization with the executive leadership, and documents go/no-go decisions to pursue prioritized
opportunities
  • Maintains and improves on the grant calendar, and coordinates planning efforts to submit grant
proposals and reports timely
  • Collects program and service data for grant proposals and reports
  • Works with program staff and executive leadership to develop grant reports, and submits reports to
funders
  • Makes individual and team appointments as necessary to achieve position related goals
  • Maintains and updates fundraising policies and procedures as necessary
  • Plans and implements annual direct mail fundraising program
  • Writes quarterly newsletter with news and fundraising messages
  • Supports the coordination of the PACS Award Dinner and Auction fundraising activities – strategies
include, but are not limited to: face to face donor call, mail solicitation, and telephone follow-up
communications to secure the gifts
Public Relations
  • Coordinates production and mailing of quarterly newsletter: PACS FACTS
  • Coordinates the production of fundraising promotion materials such as brochures and sponsorship
packets
  • Plans, supports, and participates in organized tours; and can tell the PACS mission story
  • Sends press releases regarding events that might be of interest to the media, and coordinate with
members of the media when they come to cover a story
  • Coordinates with food pantry, dental clinic, and thrift store staff to gather stories and content for
newsletters, email newsletters, website, and social media. Requires interviewing and photography skills
to gather story content
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:
  • The organization necessary to recruit, train and advise administration staff and volunteers to secure
community engagement and philanthropic support
  • Computer and software programs to support position responsibilities
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or fundraising databases, including the
compilation and generation of relevant reports
  • Time management and strategies for prioritizing and organizing work
  • Non-profit organizational workflow operations
  • How to function in a team environment
  • Knowledge in techniques that favor charitable giving
  • On the impact that ethnicity, race, national origin, and gender have on communication and interaction
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Speak English fluently and clearly; other language abilities helpful
  • Appear personable and engaging while communicating with various constituents
Sitting, working at desk several hours daily while attending meetings, doing paper work, writing various
communication pieces on the computer
  • Standing/ Walking: required on a regular basis to complete work responsibilities
  • Lifting/Carrying: required on a regular basis to complete work responsibilities
  • Opportunity for some remote work
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Although work primarily occurs in the PACS office which is well lit and air-conditioned, work is
also done on the entire PACS campus involving indoor and outdoor activities
  • Rarely exposed to extreme temperatures, however some outdoor activities are subject to NW
summer and winter temperatures, which include ice, snow, and extremely warm weather.
  • Involves driving to appointments, as needed
Work performed requires prolonged standing, physical exertions, carrying supplies, reaching overhead and
lifting 35 pounds. Significant interactions with volunteers.
